These are not as strict as the actual rules for the forum, however, repeated offenses may be cause for a warning and/or suspension if they become a disruption. Follow these guidelines, and you will find that RPing is more fun for everyone.

First, and most importantly, do NOT control another player's character without their explicit permission. This extends to when your character attacks them. You may describe your attack as "powerful," or "hard to avoid," but you should not decide whether or not your attack connects, or how much damage it does. This does not apply to non-player characters, your listed[/i] alts, or canon characters who are not being played by anyone, but when dealing with other players, "powerplaying" should be avoided. The same applies to healing...some people may not want their characters to be healed immediately after they're hurt.
That's not to say you should be able to dodge every attack thrown at you. When a person respects your character enough to leave him/her to your control alone, you should respect them enough to keep things somewhat realistic. Let your character get hit AT LEAST once in a while.
Keep your characters balanced. Examples and further character creation tips can be found here.
Also on the topic of balance, after a major fight ends, don't immediately bring in another huge incident. Let things stay somewhat calm for at least a little while. No world is ever ALWAYS crazy. Even in war, people take time to PLAN attacks.
Don't take over a particular RP board; don't form major subplots with room for ONLY your character and one friend or so. Leave room for everyone to jump in...this IS a public board. If you MUST do something private, you can use the PM system for that.
Keep in mind that the person who started a particular RP board DOES have certain privleges over the action of the board. Extra rules may be set, and they should be followed. Always respect the wishes of the board creator...as well as everyone else on the board. If you take issue with someone else's rules, don't take it personally, just find another board or create your own.
Also, take a hint. If someone takes issue with how your character is acting, they might not show it directly. They might choose to bring something up with their character causing them to be too upset to face the situations you bring in, or talk with another character about it. If this happens, you might want to lay off the behavior in question.
This board is...pretty much the worlds biggest crossover, therefore there will be canon characters from many shows/books/movies/etc. Try to keep them in-character. If you don't know how they would react to a given situation, or can't at least guess to an extent, you really shouldn't be playing that character anyway.
Don't be afraid to type a detailed post, it often makes things far easier to understand. However, don't weigh your post down with too much detail, as it sometimes makes things HARDER to understand. You be the judge of how well you get your intention across. Look at your post from the standpoint of another player before you submit it. Will they understand what message you're trying to get across?
Do NOT try to redirect the plot of an RP, especially not during another major incident. More often than not, you will be ignored.
For now, that's all...but keep checking to see if more tips have been posted. It may seem like a lot, but if you follow these tips, you will find that it makes things a lot more fun for everyone involved.
Have any tips you'd like to share? Feel free to post them.
